You, friend, have been amazing this year. Your generosity has helped the poor all over the world, in big and small ways. You have proven that true joy comes in living a generous life. So today, we know that given the chance to be generous again, you will respond with a resounding yes.

“God loves those who find joy in giving.”

110 Children in India Want Nothing More Than to Be Able to Go to School

In Assam, India, our new friend Fr. Joseph Muthuplackal and his religious order (the Trinitarian Fathers) opened a humble schoolhouse this past February. The Trinitarians’ charism is to serve the poorest of the poor. In their tiny village in northeast India, where people are desperately poor, and many struggle just to eat every day, the people gave a surprising response when surveyed: their #1 priority is to give their children a quality education and give them the chance to throw off the chains of poverty.

You see, in this region of northeast India, education is scarce. Some schools are open in name only. Very few schools function properly, if at all.  And the parents in this little village in Assam want their kids to have the chances they never had.

Without this school, there’d be no education here.

The very first day the school was opened, 110 boys and girls were enrolled. They were so excited and grateful to be given their uniforms! For now, classes happen in a big shed—it’s more like a thatched-roof hut, to be honest. Fr. Joseph and the others are doing so much with so little. This is truly the gospel in action! But they need your prayers and your help today.

You may be surprised to learn that we’re not trying to raise funds for a new school building or another large structure for this amazing school in Assam.

What Fr. Joseph and this school needs more than anything right now is a safe way to get the children to and from their little schoolhouse.

Fr. Joseph told us, “Right now the children have to cover miles walking to reach the school. But because of monsoons, flooding, drought, and other dangers, they often cannot come. A school bus to bring them safely back and forth would be a great blessing. […] I am praying Catholic World Mission can help us.”

A bus will cost $21,476. Fr. Joseph, his religious community, and the school parents simply don’t have the means to buy it without your help.

$21,476 is an amazingly good price for a full-size bus that can carry 72 children. With your help today, we will be able to do this!

Some of us may see that number and think, “That’s impossible for me to make a difference.” But together, we can do so much. Today, we invite you to consider what your yes can make possible—as small or large as that yes may be.

Any dollar amount you can give will make a difference.

  • Can you give the full $21,476? Give with ease right here.
  • Can you give $15,000, $10,000, or $5,000? That would be a huge blessing for these little ones!
  • Can you give $1,000, $500, $200, or even $25? That’s the beauty of the Catholic World Mission family of donors—many generous people come together with gifts of all sizes and make a positive impact on the world, one dollar of a time.

Please pray for the little children who are so hungry to learn. Pray for their families who courageously find a way to give their children opportunities they never had. And finally, please pray that God would provide abundantly for a bus for these little ones.

Our prayer for you is that you would know how deeply God loves you, and that during this busy holiday season, you would be able to rest in the knowledge that you are precious to the Lord.

That’s the beauty of the Catholic World Mission family of donors—many generous people come together with gifts of all sizes and make a positive impact on the world, one dollar of a time.
