Give the world hope.
Young men all over the world are ready to respond with a generous YES to God’s call in their lives. But poverty prevents them. God is stirring up a new generation of holy priests, but many are not able to say yes because they lack resources. They come from poor villages and poor dioceses—places that urgently need priests and the hope of the Gospel, but where survival often means that saying yes to God is a luxury most can’t afford.
The faith of these young men is inspiring. They love God and want to serve His bride, the Church. They want to bring the light of the Gospel to every corner of the world.
You play a critical role in making that happen.
“I live every day with gratitude as I prepare for missionary priesthood.”
When you give right now, you help men like Cornelius embrace their vocation. Cornelius is from Nigeria, and from a young age, he served as an altar boy. One Sunday, he met a missionary priest named Fr. Cajetan Metu, of the Society of African Missions (SMA).
Fr. Cajetan’s simplicity captivated Cornelius, and he was intrigued by Fr. Cajetan’s ability to address the congregation in five different languages. When Cornelius approached Fr. Cajetan after Mass, he had many questions. He wanted to know more about this man who had dedicated his life to shepherd some of the poorest communities on earth. Fr. Cajetan answered all of his questions with kindness, humility, and joy.
Several years later, Cornelius joined the Society of African Missions himself. Again and again, he has been inspired by his brother seminarians and the priests he’s met during the course of his studies. No one inspires him more than the founder of his order, Bishop Melchior de Marion Brésillac, of whom he says, “His zeal and enthusiasm for the mission moved my heart, so that I too could give my life, leave home and family for the sake and work of God.”
Cornelius isn’t alone. Brave and generous men like him in India, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Nigeria, and beyond are ready to lead a life of service, but they need your help. Poverty is the first barrier they face. But in some cases, they also face prejudice—even outright persecution—not only for living as Christians, but taking the additional step of answering God’s call to serve as priests.
Your prayers and support are vital to allow young men like Cornelius to become holy missionary priests. We’re hoping to support 50 young men this year.
50 more missionary priests sent out to every corner of the world to proclaim the Gospel.
50 more missionary priests who will bring hope, humanitarian aid, and the Sacraments to a broken and hurting world.
